My wife and I have traveled the world many times and in many ways. This book describes one of our adventures - an amazing 317-day journey of Mexico, Central and South America. We traveled on planes, trains, buses, boats, jeeps, pickup trucks, plus our old Buick. We estimate that we traveled a total of a little more than 38,000 miles altogether. The most common transportation in Latin America is by bus. One can travel everywhere in Latin America by bus. We kept detailed accounts of the places we visited, the people we met, modes of transportation and our expenses. Our travel and living expenses during the time we were gone totaled $16,150, which included health insurance, long distance telephone calls we made, gifts and other incidentals. We frequently think of the places we visited and the experiences we had and are certainly glad we took the trip. The culture and way of life varies a lot from one country to the next. We were surprised by how few tourists we saw from the U. S. A.
