The First Years is a collection of poems that began when I first discovered who God is back in the summer of 2012. This is where life truly began for me and became an adventure. My hope is to encapsulate the process that God takes each one of His children through-- the seasons, the highs, and the valleys-- and to stir the reader God-ward in every stage of that journey. Finding the language to adequately express what we feel and know deeply is crucial to spiritual growth: it brings together our emotions and understanding, to bring true worship. These writings are much like Psalms in the Bible: ranging from prayers, to praises, testimonies, and wisdom. They were birthed organically and simply by doing life with God and loving His Word, rather than forced or squeezed out.
