MISERY FALLS is installment one of a four-part coming-of-age fantasy series designed for LGBTQIA+ young adults (16+), allies, and older fantasy-lovers. MISERY FALLS features a strong bisexual female lead in a story that weaves magical realism alongside themes of questioning sexual orientation, responsibility, grief, blended families, mental health issues, transgender topics (as told by a nonbinary author), and coping with difficulties at home. Characters explore queer identities and navigate real-world issues while solving a complex, supernatural mystery. MISERY FALLS dodges typical fantasy tropes by providing a heartfelt inquiry into how queer teenagers (and their allies) may navigate a magical war. Think "The Legend of Korra," only in the Ozarks and with delightfully kitschy robots.
