This publication is a report that looks at digitization and retail banking. It considers the implications of digitization to traditional retail banks and attempts to answer the question: how can retail banks leverage digitization to ensure the sustainability of their deposits, lending and payments functions?In order to understand the current trends and to chart a course for traditional retail banks, a desk-based research was carried out. This entailed reviewing newspapers, academic databases, strategy materials and other online sources to name a few.
