For about six years prior to my wife's death, I had been sending out encouraging scripture verses via mass text. Shortly after Karen's passing, family and close friends suggested I share my grieving journey with those on my list, and even expand it into a devotional. As the idea of a published work began to formulate, my first intention was to create a daily devotional. As it progressed, however, it became a series of one-page 365 love stories, life adventures, and devotions, complete with scripture-all centered around Karen and our journey together. Spanning some 66 years, the work includes my salvation experience, our first meeting in the 8th grade, the LSU years, marriage, traveling, retirement, the grieving, and God walking me through the healing journey. Friends who have read portions of the work remarked, "I think I'm going to read it through like a book, then go back and use it as a daily devotional." Early in the writing, I was amazed at how God was using the memories to help me navigate through the pain and confusion and help me find my way back home in his arms. My hope is to help those who are traveling a similar journey, to encourage them and remind them that God will never leave them alone.
