Veteran Bruce Kochanie is confident his five years as a Marine have trained him to succeed at anything, and certainly to overcome his patchy childhood, but somehow things still aren't falling into place.

As he fights to navigate the world of government big business, he falls for a married woman who raises his protective instinct and invites him to imagine the future of his dreams.

In pursuit of a happy future, Kochanie is forced to acknowledge his transition to civilian life has been anything but seamless. He strives to live with integrity, honor, and honesty and guide his goddaughter through her innocent years, but he is haunted by the events of his own childhood and confounded by the untrustworthiness he sees all around him.
