Desperation Dolores Olivarez

When I started working with immigrant children in schools, their parents shared with me their stories of abuse they experienced in the fields by employers or the women in their homes. They would ask me for help for different reasons, whether it was translating for them for delicate issues, look for helpful resources, or accompanying them in their sadness when their families were separated. Since then, I have been working with organizations that work with immigrant families, I have seen their pain, their challenges, and celebrated their triumphs. My purpose is that the stories in this book show the other side of the coin of the lives of the immigrants. And show that we are not all criminals, nor come to take anything away from anyone. We are only looking for a better future for our families.
