I had a hard childhood. It left me with some serious mental issues. I hope to illustrate how children of abuse grow up. I have survived depression and suicide attempts from the age of 10. I tried to kill myself about 20 times more throughout my life. Not a day went by when I didn't think about killing myself...until February 2019. That's when everything turned around. I was ready to start working on myself and getting the tools to help make this manageable. Most of my life has pretty much been spent hiding what my childhood was like from others. And it took its toll. I will go into graphic detail about some of my child abuse and share impacting stories for my children to read and finally learn who I really am. My team of mental health providers have been instrumental in keeping me from losing myself while telling my story. But if any of this becomes unbearable for you, feel free to put the book down and pick it up later. There are valuable lessons underneath the trauma. I want this to be as true to what I experienced as possible. It may disturb some readers, but my intention is to offer people insight on the aftermath of child abuse.
