Boys can't Cry
J M Earl
Evan Phillips is a junior at Gate Ridge High School. He is wealthy, handsome, intelligent, confident, and athletically gifted. He is known well among his peers, he has a beautiful girlfriend, half of the school worships him, and the staff of Gate Ridge give him free passes (as they do with most of the student athletes). Every girl at Gate Ridge wants Evan, and every guy wants to be him. The thing is, though, no one truly knows Evan the way they think they do, and his life isn't as perfect as it seems. Evan harbors secrets concerning who he truly is and how he truly feelings, and he has harbored these secrets for most of his life. He keeps these secrets because he feels pressured by the people around him; he is desperate to not let anyone down, and if anyone knew what a mess he really was they would surely be disappointed. When Evan finds a group of people that he can actually be open with, it feels good to get rid of some of the weight of his charade. However, when his secrets start getting out, his life quickly gets even more difficult than it already is... and Evan doesn't know how he's going to push through.
