Molly is a lonely kid surrounded by far too many bullies, so she summons a monster named Nightmare to be her friend, and hopefully frighten the kids at school. Unfortunately, monster rules are clear - no one can see Nightmare but Molly. Though they form a reluctant friendship at first, and there's some arguing when Molly wants to rename Nightmare "Fred" the duo become inseparable. Nightmare is by Molly's side as she grows into a woman, even there at her bedside when Molly passes away. Her loss is difficult to understand and now it's Nightmare who's lonely. Can he ever make another friend?
