This book supplements Third Position for the Viola, Book One (a shifting method that introduces the positions) with exercises and short pieces that focus on increasing proficiency and note-reading in third position.

Each short exercise teaches a note or skill and is followed by a short piece that uses the same note or skill. In this way, you learn to use each skill in the most practical way possible; exactly as it would appear in viola repertoire!

By having the viola student stay in third position and play across the strings, the full possibilities of the position are taught and explored. This book focuses more on reading notes across strings in third position, while Third Position for the Viola focuses more on shifting into and out of third position.
