Michelle and Janna were roommates in college in San Francisco before they said goodbye to one another, and went their separate ways. Thirty years later, Michelle learns that Janna has passed away suddenly, and left her in charge of her legal affairs. Michelle finds herself traveling to the farming community of rural Iowa where she becomes entangled in the life her college roommate left behind. In the process, she is forced to examine what has become her own predictable life in San Francisco with her ex-husband, the same job, and failed dreams.
