Four-year-old Jenna and her eighteen-year-old family cat Tabby are the best of friends. One day, Tabby starts acting weirdly. She keeps tipping over and can't walk. After taking Tabby to the vet, Jenna and her Mother get the bad news... Tabby is very sick. Putting Tabby Down is the poignant story of a family cat that has to be put down and a family who has to learn to say goodbye to her. Oleta P. Oveson resides in a small town in north central Arkansas with her husband and two cats. Her years of teaching elementary school showed her that children are resilient and can deal with unpleasant events, as Jenna did in our story, if the the events are presented honestly and sensitively at a level children can understand.
