Erin Shafer tells her story with humor and honesty. "This has been a long journey. I have hated it, yet would never change a thing about what I have learned. Tough? Incredibly so. Scared? Beyond reason. Hope? Now overflowing. You see, walking through breast cancer myself, I have seen far too many broken and bitter people called "survivors." I don't blame them. I know, because I have been stuck there myself. It is an easy trap for willing and unwilling parties alike. I could hear my grandpa McDonald saying, 'Erin, in life you have to learn to become part of the solution, not part of the problem.' Cancer can take a lot from you, but it will never define who you are, unless you let it. You can decide to live with cancer, or to let cancer live with you
