San Francisco Heroes I Have Known
Kerner, John, MD
This book chronicles some of the most influential people who call San Francisco "Home" as told by Dr. John Kerner, a longtime champion of women's health and the war on cancer. Folks we call "heroes" are not just limited to the military. A former World War II combat medic and participant in the Battle of the Bulge, Dr. Kerner knows what he is talking about when he describes the great contributions made by some of the best minds in the country including Nancy Pelosi, Diane Feinstein, Jerry Brown, Herb Caen, and the principals behind the John A. Kerner Foundation, dedicated to the eradication of cancer. John A. Kerner, M. D., is a distinguished leader of the San Francisco medical community and former chief of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences at Mount Zion Medical Center, and a University of California San Francisco clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Kerner was one of seven American WWII veterans awarded the French Legion of Honor by French president Nicolas Sarkozy at the home of the U. S. French ambassador in Washington D. C., November 2007. On 8 September of 2012, Dr. Kerner was inducted into the 35th Division's Hall of Fame which includes Harry S Truman and three Medal of Honor recipients. Dr. Kerner lives in San Francisco, California. He is the author of COMBAT?MEDIC and A COMBAT?MEDIC?COMES?HOME.
