Growing up Dad was almost never around. He was always on some kind of business trip that kept him away for several weeks at a time. I used to try and make up stories to justify why he had to spend so much time away from his family, but nothing could have prepared me for the truth. From a young age I longed for adventure and as I got older it never diminished. I wanted to be like the heroes from my beloved books. And by making one life changing choice I got my wish.
