Told in SCREENPLAY FORMAT, this is the historical biopic of Henry Morrison Flagler (1830-1913), who, after digging himself out of bankruptcy, went on to become one of the wealthiest visionaries of all time when he co-founded Standard Oil with John D. Rockefeller. Together, the two dominated the oil industry and created a monopoly of such immense proportions, it became the focus of the most famous anti-trust lawsuit in American history. Following a trip to Florida for the benefit of his ailing wife, Flagler contributed much of his great wealth to the development of the state, which was, at the time, populated by pioneers and Seminoles. After creating some of the most spectacular resort hotels in the world, he forged a path through wilderness and built a railroad that delivered wealthy travelers to the front doors. Continually moving south, he created entire communities- building schools, churches, hospitals, and homes for his workers. Not only did he construct the Florida East Coast Railway, which stretched from Jacksonville to Miami, he continued from the southern tip of the peninsular, over the Atlantic Ocean, all the way to Key West. With three wives, three children, and three unique business endeavors-each a fascinating story in and of itself-this screenplay depicts the emotional story of, perhaps, the most intelligent man of his time . . . a humble man with unequalled vision, who loved and lost, whose creativity was marveled the world over, and who took chances that no one else could or would. That was Henry Flagler.
