At first glance, it's the story of a teenaged black boy growing up in London. His story is common and applies anywhere in the world..gangs..suspensions..stealing..absent parents..poor teaching..economic deprivation..murder and violence. On another level it's purpose is empowerment as he is submerged in the wisdom of his grandparents who awaken him to who and what humans really are, regardless of race, money, religion etc. Deeper still it gives step by step instructions on specifically how he created the mess his life was in and what could be done about it. Finally it offers hope and inspiration that any human being can do be or have anything regardless of everything .
