We cannot choose our childhood, but what can we choose? Jacki, Mike, and Curt have remarkably different home lives despite growing up in the same neighborhood in Fort Worth, Texas. It is the summer of 1979: a simpler time before every family had a home computer, every teenager had a cell phone, and everyone's heritage could be traced with a drop of saliva. Through turmoil and unlikely friendships, the three teens find themselves faced with one life-changing decision: Should they follow the same path as their parents or forge their own paths?
