Dr. Gilliard who has become known as the "Funny Doctor" served as a high school team physician for 14 years. He has been published three times internationally and four times nationally. He has happily written as a columnist for the Cadaver Magazine, Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, Georgia and as a columnist for The Medical Examiner, Augusta, Georgia and for hundreds of newspaper/magazine columns, some of which got good reviews. Dr. Gilliard has been White Paper author of several scientific projects and has been a guest speaker at NASA, 2005 National Conference. Being funny turned, Dr. Gilliard has been an actor in My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding on TLC as well as acted as Infomercial spokesperson with Morton Downey.
