I asked daughters, sisters, sons and husbands to write short stories about their mothers, grandmothers, aunties and the mothers of their children. I posed the question, "What did you learn from your mother? They were free to tell the good, the bad and the ugly. I asked it this way because in any situation we can learn how to be as good as our mothers or rather to avoid some of her mistakes. Parenting does not come with a manual-most is learned through trial and error-and can always be improved. Isn't this what life's all about; learning and improving? These stories will make you laugh and cry as the writers recount special moments in their personal history. It is my sincere hope that as you read each person's story, you will allow yourself to walk, for just a few moments, into the lives of the author. I hope that you will read something that will illuminate the lives of your children, your mother, yourself while also gaining some wisdom that may enhance your life. "... Let's celebrate the matriarch. She is so much more than JUST MOM. I'm finding that there is an eternal thread that weaves us all together. We are all created for a purpose that is greater than us. Let us not ignore the light that shines in us all. I celebrate you NOW! Let's go in with our eyes wide open fully understanding that He is doing something gigantic and He is using us.... WOMEN! We will not be hidden any longer! We will run and tell the story for all the world to hear. Our voices we will shout loud. We understand how to bring home the bacon, and fry it up in a pan and still never let you forget you're a man, because we're a woman hear us roar! We will not be silent anymore..." We are well able, capable partners working together with you husband, man, brother, lover and we are aware that you know this. We understand that without us, you would be incomplete and not only without your socks... smile (wink)
