As a twelve-year-old boy, Bob Dowell didn't care much about God. When his church hosted a series of revival meetings, he attended, but as all of his friends went to the altar to be saved, Bob sat stubbornly in his pew. "The devil is gonna get him for sure," his friends whispered.



Little did they know how close to the truth they were.



Shortly after the revival, Bob had to have surgery for acute appendicitis. Knowing his neighbor had recently died of a burst appendix, Bob was worried-less about death and more about what awaited him on the other side.



The operation was successful; Bob's appendix was safely removed. But what Bob experienced during unconsciousness terrified him: he went to hell, where he met Satan himself. When Bob awakened, he gladly gave his life to Christ. It was a genuine conversion that enriched the subsequent decades of Bob's life.



But his experience in hell continued to haunt him, and he wondered if he would ever have a second encounter with the devil. More importantly, if he did, would his faith in Jesus keep him safe?
