My name is Nick Howard. I was born on January 26, 1918. I grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, and my whole life has been lived just like a regular young adult in the US. That is, aside from my back story. My mom sent me this journal to write whatever I want in. She also sent me an attached letter that stated: "Hi honey, how are you? I have been worrying a lot about you because of the war. People die out there and we don't know if you will come back home to us after it's all over. Just remember, the whole neighborhood has your support on this and we all cannot wait to see you again." - Love, Mom and Dad
