For Eternity... takes place in an alternate universe where vampires are the ruling species instead of humans. The citizens of Eleutheria live under the reign of a bigoted tyrant. They are taxed to the point of being unable to buy blood, any expression against the king results in a death sentence, and females have to be submissive to males. Anyone discovered to be in love with a member of the same sex or gender will be beheaded. The protagonists, Dragomir and Alaric, are the heirs of two noble vampire families in Eleutheria: the Caelums and the Ardors. Dragomir's father gained his fame and wealth through his renowned skill with a sword, and Alaric's through undying support of the tyrant. When the story begins, Dragomir is an anxious, self-deprecating seventeen year-old. Alaric, a few months older, is constantly harassed verbally and physically by his crazed father. Dragomir and Alaric fall in love, and have to keep their relationship hidden to avoid execution. After two years of meeting in secret while everyone is asleep during the day, Dragomir and Alaric are discovered by Dragomir's family just as civil war breaks out all around them. Desperate to live without fear or the constant threat of death hanging over their heads, both teenagers leave home to join the rebels fighting for the rights of their fellow vampires. They are undermanned, undergunned, and lack experience, but the rebels manage to reach out to those longing for something better. But now that Dragomir and Alaric's relationship has been blazoned by Alaric's father, they have Alaric's father vowing to bring both their heads to the king, and a revolution to fight.
