As men and women, we've learned through years of experience how to hide who we are. Feelings of neglect, abandonment and even rejections have caused us to lash out in some form or another. We haven't learned how to become men, fathers, or husband, women, mothers or wives because deep down we are still children. Our insecurities have caused us to become undeveloped on the inside yet we look full grown on the outside. With the Insecurities of who we are, we have learned how to "Hide Behind the Mask." We have placed many masks on, being too afraid, to be exposed. What if they see the real me? Because of insecurities, we've learned to blend with our surrounding; we've learned to adapt. Yes, we are chameleons! We'll smile when you smile, laugh when you laugh, we will even cry when you cry. Oh yes, we have even killed for those shortcomings. We have hidden behind many masks for so long; We don't know where or who we are. Hiding behind "Masks of Addiction," "Mask of Pride," "Mask of Homosexuality," Masks of Lesbianism," and or Pornography," amongst other things. Somewhere we have lost our identity. Journey with me in rediscovering our true selves.
