It includes chapters devoted to the ancient philosophers who opposed Christianity along with information about the female philosophers of the ancient world and also chapters devoted to the emperors Hadrian and Julian, demonstrating their roles in the overall picture. It also includes details of the savage murder of the philosopher, Hypatia. The brutal takeover by Christian Byzantine forces is fully on display in this work along with mentions of several who faced their wrath, often via some rather fiendish subordinate characters. In the mix it emphasizes the meaning of the deaths of Julian, Hypatia, the very city of Roma and the ancient Greco-Roman civilization altogether. This is real history based on fact, not faith.
