The Middle East is in flames. The President of the United States is apathetic about the problems she helped create in the region and the Congress is very concerned about resolving the spreading turmoil, turmoil that could bring down governments, including ours. But how do you fix a problem the White House refuses to even acknowledge? One answer is to put an effective military force in the region, without the restraints often set down by politics, and turn them loose to fix the problem. Effectively, a rogue force, outside of Government review. But, before you can do that, you must find the people within the Government that can rig the system to pay for such an operation without it becoming too obvious. In other words, cook the books so that it looks like defunct programs and hardware are still being funded, yet moving the money where it is needed most, paying salaries and buying needed equipment for a special operations field force. But where to find the manpower for such a force and where to find a leader who could ignore the politics of command to accomplish a mission that, from the beginning, reeked of treason within the Federal Government? The manpower recruitment was simpler than most thought. Seek out those loyal men and women who had sworn to defend the USA from all enemies foreign and domestic, but are disgusted with the current government's policies. The leader had to be someone with nothing to lose. Someone who knew combat and what it took to win a battle. Someone outside the normal ranks of military leadership. Someone who would not allow his men to be used as a political pawn, as is so often done in war. Such a man is known, but will he take the assignment? Will he come out of retirement to build and lead such a military force? The people working behind the scenes also know a secret is no longer a secret, if more than one person know the secret. So, how and where do you covertly build a military unit except within the military itself? This is the story of Task Force Nemesis and the men and women that wore the uniform.
