It's that which makes people display a higher-than-you or better-than-you attitude. On the other hand, your dignity is what the French man calls "raison d'être" - the essence of your being; the reason why you're alive. It's the essence of the humanity in you. It's that thing in you that makes you talk and act with inner joy and a display of modest confidence - with your head held up, while at the same time, you're level-headed, and your nose is not in the air as that of a snob, and you walk with your chest out but not high-shouldered.
