Ten year old Shane is somewhat small for his age and is not athletic. He is bullied, but although it hurts him, he maintains his friendly and kind personality. Fortunately, Peggy who is his best friend, sticks up for him. They both like to Kayak in the Ocean. One day Shane comes upon a dreadful scene where he sees a young Orca whale fighting for its life trapped on a sand bar. He realizes there is no one else to help in a rescue attempt and he and Peggy must try to save this Orca themselves. As soon as this confrontation occurs both crystals glow and hum as they are activated. The children begin to receive telecommunication from spirits of shaman imprisoned by spells in the crystals for many centuries. They can communicate with the shaman by telepathy and also with the whales and eagles and all other creatures. We learn how Toran the Shaman husband had cast these spells at the time of his wife Ulina's untimely death centuries before; to try to keep her spirit alive. His Talisman was created by his son after Torans own death. passing With the assistance of great eagles and the whale pod members with the guidance of the shaman they manage to fight off an attack of poachers and then with the pulling strength of the mother and the deep diving powers of Shane, pull Bubba to safety (that is what he is named.) They remain telepathically linked with Bubba who loves them, wherever they all are. The Shaman couples spirits are able to communicate after centuries of imprisonment and with the help of the children cast a dangerous and complex spell spell that will allow holograms of the loving Shaman couple to appear. They may be able to see and embrace each other. However during the spell they are suspicious that an evil entity held captive in the graveyard by sorcery may have been activated. Because of the increased calls for help in other whale maroonings around the world, the children set up WHALE WHISPERERS INC. They are kept busy aiding rescues around the world. Bubba helps in many cases and must confront a deadly Great White Shark in San Diego Bay. When the school year begins, Shane asks his Shaman if he can use his new powers in the upcoming race and other track and field events. He must race his two worst bullies and the results will amaze you.
