Explore the story of how Bay City, Michigan's first designated burial ground went from being abandoned and overgrown to a prominent historic site. Pine Ridge Cemetery was founded in 1858 and prospered, but within one hundred years it would begin to fall into a state of disrepair. The final resting place of over 150 Civil War veterans and many other significant individuals from the region, Pine Ridge Cemetery has a unique and rich history. Owned by no one and no longer an active cemetery, Pine Ridge could not exist without the small group of devoted volunteers who care for it.
