Something interesting happened to me by accident that I never would have imagined in a million years. I was in my early twenties. I decided I could not afford rent in Naples, Florida. I had a job in management at a fast-food restaurant. I enjoyed the work, made better money than I would have made at most fast-food restaurants because of the posh location and high-cost of living. I lived out of my car. I lived in a parking space in the public access parking lot on a beach. I showered at the nearby shower stalls. I ate at the restaurant where I worked (I'm a vegetarian and mostly ate healty salads and things that were actually good for me). I didn't spend money except on my car insurance, which was less than a hundred dollars per month. Life was pretty good to me. I saved a lot of money. I thought this was the best thing to do for a person in my place in life. I figured I would invest the money so I could retire early; perhaps in my forties. I was a little niave. After three years of living this way I ended up losing all of my savings. I was very upset and became depressed. I thought that living out of my car and sacrificing the 'good life' was something I was stupid for having done. What I didn't realize was that I had been living a very posh lifestyle, living out of my car, on a beautiful beach, and living minimally. It was actually much more enjoyable than what I did after losing all my money. After I lost all my money I took a place on rent in a land locked state, and started a job that paid a wage better than most people make in a year. Most of my family members and friends were happy and some I suppose a wee bit envious of my success. What my friends and family didn't realize was I was miserable, tired, depressed, lonely, worried, and so on. I had a good income but I was spending a lot of money to continue receiving that income-it's almost as if to say it was a job requirement that I spend the money. A couple years went by and I was just as broke as I had been when I lost all my money. Now isn't that strange you may wonder. Isn't is strange that a guy who worked at a fast-food restaurant was able to save up70,000 in three years time, but a corporate executive making upwards of a hundread thousand dollars per year couldn't save any money whatsoever and was constantly worried and panic stricken? It is strange. I took an assessment of my life and decided to do something bold. I decided to chart a plan to retire from my job in but ninety days. The plan worked. I haven't had a job since and I'm totally happy with my life, have more money than I know what to do with, and am living for free. I'm going to teach you my plan in this book and show you how you can do the same. Let's learn how to live for free so you can retire in the next ninety days and still maintain a happy existence.
