Isabelle Newman was nine when the protests first started. While the government and civil society became helpless to the ensuing anarchy, Isabelle found her perfect life slowly crumbling around her. Everything that she had ever known was being taken away from her piece by piece. She was no longer allowed to go to school, trapping her in a life of hopelessness. Due to the chaos right outside her doorstep, Isabelle was denied the luxury of leaving her house. Soon, her perfect family began unraveling at the seams as she desperately tried to hold it all together. As she grows up in a lawless society, Isabelle is forced to abandon her childhood when she becomes the head of her household after her father's untimely death. As her mother struggles with crippling depression, Isabelle fights her own demons as she juggles keeping her family alive in a society without humanity, figuring out who she is, and deciding if it is all worth it.
