This book is a follow up to Norfolk Gravestones Vol 1 and covers a whole new area of Norfolk from that of the last edition. In this volume you will find the following churches: - Ashwicken, Congham, East Walton, East Winch, Flitcham, Gayton, Gayton Thorpe, Grimston, Hillington and Roydon. There are well over 450 gravestone (tombstone) inscriptions that have been transcribed in this volume and many a good old Norfolk name is included in the list. This book is issued in the hope that it will at least archive many of these gravestones (tombstones, memorials or epitaphs) for others to see in years to come. These wonderful old monuments are deteriorating at an alarming rate so at least I can say that I have recorded some of them for posterity, especially for families who are trying to research their own history here in Norfolk. Here are just a few of the surnames that are included in this volume: - Anderson, Armiger, Bates, Bolderstone, Cary, Copeman, Downing, Elwes, Forman, Gage, Griggs, Hanslip, Hooks, James, Kersley, Lane, Lincoln, Marshall, Mobbs, Nelson, Onyon, Parr, Pung, Rasberry, Sanctuary, Shinn, Tooke, Woodward and many, many more..... The list consists mainly of inscriptions that are pre-1900's. Basically they are ones that are beginning fade with weathering, including some of those that had leaded lettering which has started to fall apart. As you can imagine, the work of transcribing these has taken me many, many hours and also lots of sleepless nights in order to preserve what's left of these wonderful pieces of social history.
