The Way the Wind Blows is not a war story, it is a love story, but that's where it begins. The Viet Nam war left a terrible scar on this nation's history. The United States sent 8,744,000 Americans to Viet Nam. More than 47,322 died in combat, 10,700 died in support of combat, 163,303 survived wounds, and 2500 remained missing in action. 258 were awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. Following the Viet Nam war, Americans attempted to rebuild their lives. Those that returned faced hostile receptions at airports and harbors. They had to contend with broken families, rampant drug use, and political corruption beyond imagining. For the veterans, it was an overwhelming challenge. Forgotten and dishonored, few survived without permanent scars. This is the story of one of those men. Coming back to his family, decorated Marine Veteran, Rob Simpson, discovers that the transition from civilian to combat soldier came easier for many men than the transition back to civilian life.
