The Allcroft Family
Antony David Davies
This book chronicles the story of the Allcroft family. It starts in late 1700s Worcester, and sees the rise of the family as elite glovers running the famed Dent, Allcroft & Co. In the 1860s John Derby Allcroft purchased the historic Stokesay Castle and created the Stokesay Court Estate, building himself a massive new family home in rural Onibury. Subsequent generations dominated south Shropshire. The last of the family was Lady Jewell Magnus-Allcroft, the wife of celebrated biographer Philip Magnus.
