Being afraid of the dark is a fear that children have. Being afraid of the monsters in your closet or under your bed are ones that you grow out of. For me, the darkness held a different monster. Not one that was hiding under my bed or in my closet, but one that was in the shape of a man, a father. I was a small child that had my innocence taken and was left to understand why. Life only got harder and my fears only greater as I grew up. A long dark road that never seemed to end. Each step forward seemed like a journey back. Never really able to hide from the monster that haunted me. A scared little girl who learned to find a way in a giant world. This story is based upon true events about personal growth in life and how one's own beginning in life does not have to reflect what the future will be. During each stage of life, read through the perspective of one woman's journey and live through her eyes.
