Nations have split into bimodal states where the unproductive are left in the "Old" while the productive elite migrate into the new global commune known as Zeonima. Donovan Vail has an unyielding rage against the machines. His father, murdered by rogue bots, his girlfriend, left him for a 20:80 borg (human to bot ratio). Out of vengeful circumstances, Vail has reputed an informal career as a systems bounty hunter. After leaving the trade to pursue a more normal lifestyle, an unforeseen relocation into the New World lures him back into his only true forte, battery head hunting.
