Laura Tipton had always felt close to her uncle, Todd Pendleton, but she never expected to inherit his vast holdings on Puget Sound. She left her son with his grandmother, and prepared to fly to Washington, sign some papers and make arrangements to rent or sell the property. When she made the trip to the Pacific Northwest from her home in California, nothing could have prepared her for the mystery which gripped her almost immediately after her arrival.
