30 Days to a Renewed Mind Jan Grace

The Lord Jesus told His adversary, as the two met in the wilderness of temptation, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word which proceeds from the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4). How did He know what to say? How to use His Father's word as a weapon? How did that scrip-ture (found in Deuteronomy) become the "sword of the Spirit", an "ever present help in time of need" for Jesus? He studied it. He kept it before Him at all times. He heeded the psalmist's word, "Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers" (Psalm 1:1 ESV). He followed God's advice to Joshua, "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good suc-cess" (Joshua 1:8). He was armed and prepared for anything. It's the same way the Lord wants us to be; thor-oughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:17), and a workman that need not be ashamed (2 Timothy 2:15).
