King Artiemus wasn't a normal king because he was immortal. After the death of his wife Isabel he found out that it was his brother Orrick hired an assassin to kill her to get the Kingdom of Salon. This started the Great War in which Orrick impaled Artiemus in the heart ending the war and winning the Kingdom of Salon. Artiemus was not dead he becomes The Watcher looking for revenge for his murdered wife. In the castle of Salon there is a battle to the death between Orrick and Artiemus but the Ring of Time activate sending them into the future where the adventure continues.
