These versatile and specialist groups are serious competition on world markets to Germany, France and other members. It matters little to Large-scale enterprises if UK remains in the EU; they can absorb the costs and employ sophisticated lobbying to smooth the way. SME's suffer and the EU's tactical use of regulatory power directs costly obstacles at the UK's highly competitive SME's. The combination of the English-language advantage and British inventiveness and business skills means the UK is a target for burdensome legislation: and our EU partners find Britain's dutiful compliance very convenient.
