Minor Imperfections challenges us to question why women stay in toxic relationships. Drew's journey into womanhood begins on the campus of an HBCU, where she finds status and her first love, Tyler Edmunds. He is also a freshman, a starter on the football team, and breathtakingly fine. Their Romeo and Juliet romance is the envy of all that do not know that Tyler is a cheater and abuser. As they make up to break up, the reader roots for Drew to love herself more than she does Tyler and questions why, a woman who is so confident would suffer his antics. As they matriculate through college Drew excels academically and socially. Her constant roadblock is trying to tame her violent and cheating man. When her relationship becomes unbearable, Drew finds solace with her three friends Steph, Danny and Jay. Their antics are epic and as they all attempt to save Drew from her relationship, they enable her knowing that no matter what they do or say, Drew is always going to end up in Tyler's arms. Drew's story mirrors many relationships and as you take her journey into womanhood, you will laugh, cry, be angry and love hard with her.
