When the earth begins to show signs of being uninhabitable, humanity sets up a program to find other exoplanets for people to colonize. Their efforts are successful, and the crisis on earth is averted by sending hundreds of thousands of people out to live among the stars. The thirteenth tribe, a fringe group from the Jewish community, was one such group, but their journey out into space had some complications. Now they, along with the entire surviving ship's complement, must go alone on a strange and unobserved planet in an area of space unchartered and unknown.
