Jek is 17 winters old and it is time for his quest to prove he is an adult and a Hider. He knows his trial will be dangerous, but he is ready to get within touching distance of one of them. But when everything goes wrong and the old one sees him, Jek expects to die. However, meeting Ned and his granddaughter Molly will not only save his life, but maybe his entire race. Molly Fisher is 17 years old and lives in the wilds of Canada with her alcoholic grandfather. She hates life. She hates people. Everyone she has ever loved has either died, or left her. So, on a typically dull day in 'Nowheresville' she isn't expecting to discover that a legend is reality or find true humanity in a non-human.
