Sensei Says Safety Proofing: Lesson one has been written for children ages six to ten years old from the perspective of Mia, a young student learning child safety techniques. Lesson one is the first book in a series covering basic awareness. Each book covers a basic skill as Mia progresses through her safety proofing course. At the end of each book, there is a short quiz that should be given orally to the reader followed by the answers, talking points, and an action practice phase that should be discussed and practiced with an adult. Sensei Says Safety Proofing is designed to be a short educational reading session for one child or read out loud to a group of children that then can participate in the quiz and practice as a group. Lessons should be repeated on a regular basis in sequence to anchor safety skills into the minds of the reader. Like all skills, only regular practice will lead to effectiveness.
