For Catherine, Hawaii completed a decades long journey (or series of journeys) through all 50 states. (For Cheryl, that journey had been completed on a previous trip to Alaska.) Their five-day trip to "the Big Island" may not have been as long as either of them might have preferred, but it was a great introduction.
