Allen Brockman is an independent scholar and photographer living in rural Virginia. This 4-volume set is a compilation of black and white photographs of historical, natural, and modern sites, people and things in one of Virginia's most interesting counties-Middlesex-on the Rappahannock River and Chesapeake Bay-with particular focus on the central part of the county (near where the author lives) and elsewhere. The area is not on one of Virginia's interstates, which is all the more reason to take a leisurely drive up or down U. S. 17 and take a visit. You may never want to leave! Volume 1 focuses on the historical, aquatic and faunal aspects of the County and elsewhere. This includes beach, natural area, nature, agricultural, watermen, rivers, bay, and recreation.
