Dr. Chase Madden practices family medicine in the small town of Taos, New Mexico. House calls frequently require skis, snow shoes or hiking boots. In an isolated mountain cabin, she finds her patient is infected with a life threatening bacteria that rarely lets its host come out alive. Did she get to him in time? Can she stop the infection without sacrificing too many of the patient's body parts? As Dr. Madden is drawn into her third mystery involving pathological killers with fiendish genetic twists, she is faced with trying to save a patient's life, find a serial killer and a serial rapist. Her obsession for healing a patient is expected, but how can she wish the killer well, but become obsessed with finding the rapist?
