My kids came home from kindergarten so excited about the sight words they were learning at school. They quickly dove into their books, only to get frustrated that they could not read them on their own. That gave me an idea! I decided to write them a few stories completely out of sight words so that they could read an entire book on their own and gain the confidence of reading without help. As I wrote, my kids read the stories. The look of pure joy and pride as they succeeded was all I ever could have hoped for!
