The Astral Covenant is the first of three futurist fiction novels with science fiction elements in the series, The Astral Arcana. Set initially in Sydney, Australia, the action moves internationally to a variety of locations including Scotland, Russia, America and France. Reimas Caledan, a hard-bitten activist of the Little River, has fought the repressive Global Unity administration by whatever means he could, but with the entry of Valhalla and its powerful technologies onto the scene, he takes guerrilla warfare to the global stage. Started by the fleeing remnants of the Templars, Valhalla has maintained a strictly secret profile for more than seven hundred years, and their resources have long been channelled into researching and building groundbreaking technology. Hard as he has become, however, he has begun to doubt his methods for generating change so he welcomes the entry of Valhalla onto the scene. Friendship, pleasure and spiritual insight have begun to outweigh more material considerations, and he begins to seek a clearer understanding of life's higher purpose. As the action escalates and the brutal consequences of war compound, he and his closest friends in the Institute, the covert arm of the Little River, accept the need for a new approach and, with Valhalla's encouragement, begin to explore a strange new potential. This leads to a series of game-changing ventures into remote viewing and, with the application of stunning new Valhalla technology, a series of escalating clashes with the most ruthless units of Global Unity's military elite.
